Thornapple Trails Association Board Members

Michal Enders
Chair
Michal is passionate about the outdoors and feels very fortunate to live on the Thornapple Trail in Middleville. Her adventures include hiking, cycling, cross country skiing and kayaking with friends and family. She also monitors vernal pools with the MSUs Vernal Pool Patrol. Her favorite ways to share the trail include photography and watercolor. Michal is an automotive industry consultant and her work travels have take her across the US where she enjoys looking up local trails.

Rick Moore
Vice Chair
Rick is the originator of the Thornapple trail initiative to connect the trail from Eaton Rapids to Kentwood. He started passionately raising awareness and working with the various entities along the trail path more than 40 years ago. He still provides most of the needed maintenance himself. He also serves on the Barry County Parks and Recreation Commission.

Catherine Getty
Treasurer
Catherine is passionate about creating places where people can enjoy the outdoors and be the healthiest version of themselves. She is the Executive Director for B.Healthy Barry County and serves as the Barry County Commissioner for District 2 which includes the communities of Middleville and Yankee Springs. Catherine enjoys hiking, kayaking, and visiting family and friends. She has three wonderful adult sons and one granddaughter.

Bobbie Taffee
Secretary
Bobbie Taffee is a retired painter. She painted many houses in Barry County with her husband Bob. Bobbie is an avid swimmer, biker and hiker. She enjoys reading, knitting and crocheting. Bobbie rode her bike across the USA in 2006 and has done many bike tours in many states. The Paul Henry Trail has been an interest to her since before it was the Paul Henry Trail. Bobbie lives at Thornapple Lake and is looking forward to riding from her house to Caledonia on the connected trail.

Cal Lamoreaux
Board Member
Cal, a Grand Rapids native, spent his formative years in Holland, Michigan. A multifaceted individual, he holds degrees in Electrical Engineering and Math Education from Michigan State University. His career path reflects his diverse interests, spanning education as a science, math, and English teacher, engineering as a tool design engineer, and artistic pursuits as a voyageur reenactor for 25 years, even editing the “Voyageur News” and earning recognition in “Who’s Who in Publishing.”
Retirement didn’t slow him down. Cal continued to contribute to his community, working as a marina mechanic and dedicating himself to outdoor activities. He’s a passionate hunter, fisherman, and cyclist, and his commitment to conservation is evident in his lifelong membership with the Michigan Audubon Society. His contributions to local trails are significant, including establishing mountain bike trails at Yankee Springs SRA, co-founding the Thornapple Trail Association, and playing a key role in the Woodpecker Fest and AVA Volksmarch walks on the Middleville trail. Cal’s dedication to outdoor recreation and community involvement has left a lasting positive impact.

Sandra Johnson
Board Member
Sandra Johnson, with a heart as warm as a freshly baked pie, brings a lifetime of experience and a love for the outdoors to everything she does. Growing up on a farm south of Hastings instilled in her a deep appreciation for nature’s bounty. A graduate of Hastings High School, Sandra raised two sons and is now the proud grandma of two grown grandchildren.
Her passion for food extends far beyond the farm. Sandra’s experience in the food service industry, honed over many years, is evident in her delicious cooking and baking. But her talents extend beyond the kitchen. Sandra is a dedicated community member, serving on the boards of the Grand Rapids Folk Arts Society, the Movies Memories group, and the Milestones group.

Duska Brumm
Board Member
Duska Brumm is from Nashville and is passionate about serving the community. She is a retired educator from Maple Valley Schools and currently a Program Officer for the Barry Community Foundation. She also leads the Nashville Heart & Soul project which helps implement the hopes and dreams of community members. Duska enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
